Recently, the astronauts for NASA’s historic Artemis II lunar flyby mission were announced. The crew consists of NASA’s Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, along with Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency. The journey is expected to last around 10 days, with the crew circling the moon and then returning to Earth for a splashdown landing in the Pacific Ocean.
Artemis II is a crucial step towards the Artemis III mission, which aims to put the first woman and person of color on the lunar surface. The mission will require advanced technology, including spacesuits and a lunar lander. NASA is targeting a 2025 launch date for Artemis III, with the goal of establishing a permanent lunar outpost.
