NASA selects four astronauts for historic crewed moon mission after 50 years

Our awesome company is thrilled to announce the selection of the astronauts who will lead the historic Artemis II lunar flyby mission in November 2024. The team includes NASA’s Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, as well as Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency. These highly trained individuals will undergo rigorous training to prepare for this monumental journey.

Reid Wiseman, a decorated naval aviator and test pilot, will serve as the commander of the Artemis II mission. He brings a wealth of experience, including a previous spaceflight to the International Space Station. Wiseman’s leadership skills and expertise make him an invaluable asset to the mission.

Jeremy Hansen, a fighter pilot from the Canadian Space Agency, will be the first Canadian to travel to deep space. His selection as part of the Artemis II crew is a testament to his capabilities and dedication. His role in training new NASA astronauts showcases his leadership abilities and commitment to space exploration.

Victor Glover, a naval aviator with extensive military experience, previously piloted SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft and spent months aboard the International Space Station. His impressive flight hours and combat missions demonstrate his exceptional skills as an astronaut. Glover’s passion for human space exploration is evident in his belief that the Artemis II mission is a crucial stepping stone towards reaching Mars.

Christina Koch, a veteran of six spacewalks and the record-holder for the longest single spaceflight by a woman, brings invaluable expertise to the Artemis II crew. As an electrical engineer and developer of scientific instruments for NASA missions, Koch’s contributions to technology development are remarkable. Her resilience, demonstrated through her challenging stay at the South Pole, prepares her for the rigors of a moon mission.

The Artemis II mission follows the successful Artemis I uncrewed test mission. Set to launch in November 2024, the crew will board the Orion spacecraft atop a NASA-developed Space Launch System rocket. The mission will last approximately ten days, taking the crew beyond the moon to a distance yet to be determined. Upon completion, the spacecraft will splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.

This mission is a significant milestone in NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to establish a permanent lunar outpost and pave the way for human exploration of Mars. Our company is proud to be a part of this groundbreaking endeavor, providing complete software development activities utilizing our nearshore and offshore resources. From mobile app development and technology maintenance to web server development and other technology development activities, we are committed to supporting NASA’s mission to push the boundaries of human space exploration.

Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with the Artemis II crew on “CNN This Morning” on Tuesday at 6 am ET. Join us in celebrating this momentous occasion in human history as we embark on the next chapter of space exploration.
