In exciting news, sixteen-year-old Summer McIntosh has recently made waves in the swimming world. McIntosh broke not one, but two world records at the Canadian swimming trials. She first shattered the world record for the 400m freestyle and then went on to break the record for the 400m individual medley.

McIntosh finished the 400m individual medley in an impressive time of 4:25.87, surpassing the previous record set by Hungarian swimmer Katinka HosszĂș at the 2016 Rio Olympics. HosszĂș’s record stood at 4:26.36, but McIntosh proved her extraordinary talent and determination by beating it.

This achievement follows McIntosh’s record-breaking performance in the 400m freestyle just days prior. She surpassed defending Olympic champion Ariarne Titmus’ record of 3:56.40 with her incredible time of 3:56.08. McIntosh’s success has put her among the top swimmers in the world and solidified her position as a rising star in the sport.

After her latest triumph, McIntosh expressed her gratitude for the support she received. She mentioned how she vividly heard the crowd cheering her on during the race and how much it motivated her, especially in the last 100 meters. McIntosh’s family and friends were in the stands, providing a source of inspiration and encouragement.

This remarkable teenager made her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 when she was only 14 years old. She finished fourth in the 200-meter freestyle, showcasing her remarkable talent at such a young age. McIntosh’s accomplishments don’t stop there. She also secured gold medals in the 200m butterfly and 400m medley at the 2022 world championships. Additionally, she claimed two gold medals in the 200m and 400m medleys at the Commonwealth Games.

Currently, McIntosh trains in Florida under the guidance of coach Brent Arckey, with the Sarasota Sharks team. Her dedication and commitment to her sport are evident in her exceptional performances and constant drive to push her boundaries.
